Boating, fishing, hiking, horse riding and birding are popular at Hunting Island State Park.

Per the state park web site:

“Equestrian beach access is available December, January and February. Fishing is available in Johnson Creek, the lagoon or surf fishing on the beach. The fishing pier, located at the southern tip of the park, extends 1,120 feet into Fripp Inlet. Public boat access is available at the south end of the park where a boat ramp provides access to Harbor River and Fripp Inlet.”

Short hiking opportunities include the "Campground Access trail (1 mile)", the "Lighthouse Trail (0.3 mile)" and the "Marsh Boardwalk NRT (0.4 mile)".

For bikers, take the "Island Bike/Hike trail (8 miles)".
