Welcome to our review of Oscar Scherer State Park campground.

General Information:
Located midway down the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida about six miles south of Sarasota, Oscar Scherer State Park is another beautiful, well-maintained Florida State Park. Camping at the Park’s campground provides beautiful views of the native tropical vegetation and South Creek, a black water stream that flows to the Gulf of Mexico. The creek runs along one side of the campground allowing half of the campsites to be riverfront with views of the beautiful stream.

Beautiful View:
As with many Florida State Park campgrounds, privacy between many sites is provided by native trees and lush tropical vegetation surrounding three sides of the campsite. In addition to the beautiful views of native flora, about 45 of the 94 campsites are riverfront and have views of South Creek. Look at the interactive map available at the reservations web site to see which sites are “river front”.

Campground Details:
This campground has 94 campsites with 30 – 50 amp electrical service and water hook-up. Only the six pull-thru sites have 50 amp service, the remaining sites are back-in with 30 amp service. Amenities include modern restrooms with flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station and potable water. All Florida state parks are open year-round; but there may be restrictions on the camping season.
