The Hillsborough River provides opportunities for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking with launch sites available on the river. Canoes can be rented at the park’s concession. The most rave reviews of this park come from people who canoed or kayaked down the river, describing the views with words and phrases like “spectacular”, “beautiful”, and “nature as you rarely see it”.

Hikers can walk over seven miles along four nature trails and biking is available on the 1.6 mile Wetlands Restoration Nature Trail as well as the 2.2 mile Park Loop. The park also has a swimming pool with a café and gift shop.

Fort Foster is open for guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays. The Fort replica is meant to give the visitor a step back in time to the days when Florida was being settled by pioneers. While there, you can visit the Fort Foster Visitor Station which houses a display of artifacts from the time period and provides the visitor with information about the operation of the fort.
