Welcome to our review of Hillsborough River State Park campground.

General Information:
Hillsborough River State Park is another beautiful, well-maintained, popular Florida State park about 12 miles north of Tampa. It is an older park built in 1936 and is home to Fort Foster, a replica of an 1837 fort from the Second Seminole War. Tours of the Fort are offered on the weekends or with a reservation at other times.

Beautiful View:
The most beautiful views at this park are found on the hiking and biking trails and along the banks of Hillsborough River while canoeing or kayaking; but the park does have a very attractive, well laid out campground. Campsites at Hillsborough River campground are surrounded by a mixture of tall deciduous trees and low-lying, lush native tropical vegetation providing a picturesque view from the campsite. The size of sites and degree of privacy vary quite a bit. Call campground personnel for specific site recommendations.

Campground Details:
The campground has approximately 100 campsites, all with 30 or 50 amp electric service and most having water hookup. Only eight sites are pull-through and the rest are back-in. The park has a dump station, potable water, and modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. All Florida state parks are open year-round; but there may be restrictions on the camping season.
