Welcome to our review of Big Lagoon State Park campground.

General Information:
Big Lagoon State Park is located in the northwest (pan handle) of Florida in Pensacola. It is a coastal park that is located on the northern shoreline of Big Lagoon, which separates the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico. As with so many Florida state parks, Big Lagoon is great for bird watching. Swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, and hiking are also popular here. If you get a chance, try crabbing in the shallow waters of Big Lagoon.

Beautiful View:
Most camp sites are wooded and are enclosed by beautiful, lush, tropical vegetation which in itself provides a beautiful view right from your campsite. Although located close to the beach, none of the camp sites have water views. I can’t give any specific recommendations for the “best” campsites at this park in terms of the views that can be seen directly from camp sites. If you look at the photos of representative campsites, you’ll see that you probably won’t go wrong in choosing most any site. Most sites should be “nicely wooded” as one camper put it and have a good degree of privacy - surrounded by the beautiful lush, native tropical vegetation.

As always, for a better sense of the views available at this campground or any campground featured in Camping With A View, make sure you look at the photos and read some of the reviews from other campers by clicking on the links found in the campground menu at the top of this page.

Campground Details:
The campground includes 68 campsites, all with 30-50 amp electrical service. Water hookup is also provided at most of the RV sites. All sites are back-in and range from twenty to seventy feet in length for RV parking. There is a waste station, potable water station and it’s equipped with modern bathrooms and hot showers. All Florida state parks are open year-round; but there may be restrictions on the camping season. Call the state park for more information on campground opening and closing dates. For more information on the state park or campground call 850-492-1595.

Summary:
Big Lagoon State Park is another beautiful Florida state park in the coastal area of the Florida panhandle outside of Pensacola. This park tends to give a feeling of a little more privacy and seclusion than some of the other more popular Florida parks and has many beautiful views throughout the park and campground to enjoy.
