A description of this campground can be found at the following web site: U.S. National Forest Campground Guide After going to this site, depending on your web browser, you may need to scroll down to the name of this campground. Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site:

"...The campground is composed of five loops (only A, B and C are identified). Some camping sites overlook Island Lake, others have a view of large alpine meadow and still others are tucked into a dense wooded area. Although not close to the Absaroka- Beartooth Wilderness, its glacier-studded peaks provide a spectacular vista from the campground. This is an excellent campground for the whole family with its trails, water sports, vistas and mosquitoes - bring lots of repellent. Day trips include a drive up to Beartooth Pass, Clay Butte Fire Tower (for some great vistas) and the Yellowstone National Park. The drive along the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway is gorgeous with many vistas. Parts of it trace the flight or retreat of the Nez Perce Indians...

...This is grizzly bear country; practice safe food storage techniques...

...NOTE: Limited groceries and gas are available at the Top of the World store about 2 miles east of the campground...

...The parking aprons are gravel...

...Island Lake is 75 acres..."
