A description of this campground can be found at the following web site: U.S. National Forest Campground Guide After going to this site, depending on your web browser, you may need to scroll down to the name of this campground. Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site:
"...The campground, one of several along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway and on the northeastern shore of Washington Lake, is comprised of a single loop dotted with Lodgepole pine. Although none of the camping sites have a grille, each has fire ring and a pedestal stand for a cook stove. Many of the sites are adjacent to or overlook the lake. Washington Lake is used for irrigation which may cause the water level to decrease during the course of the summer. Wildlife viewing is possible...
... The campground opened in 2000 and has that "raw" appearance which should mellow with time. The fire ring, table and pedestal anchored in cement and adjacent to the parking aprons. For most of the camping sites, the tent pad is well away, often below, the parking apron. The rocky surface will make pitching a tent off the provided tent pads mostly prohibitive...
...This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques...
...A Recreation Pass is also required. The cost is $3 per day, or $6 per week or $25 per year. The passes can be purchased at various fee stations along State Rt. 150...
...The parking aprons are paved. Some camping sites will accommodate any size RV...
... There is a potable water tower for RVs 0.9 miles south of campground (or 0.2 miles from State Rt. 150 on access road to campground). Depending on direction of travel, there are two RV waste stations available. One is off State Rt. 150 (between mile markers 14 and 15 at Soapstone Basin sign) 0.2 miles down Forest Rt. 37. There is potable water and no fee. The other is off State Rt. 150 (between mile markers 47 and 48) 0.2 miles down Lilly Lake Rd. There is potable water and no fee...
...Washington Lake is 100 acres..."
