"...The campground was built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Located adjacent to Ratcliff Lake, the campground has retained its charm over the years. There are three loops to the campground with walk-in tent sites in the overflow area and other locations throughout the campground. The Lakeview loop sites have excellent views of the lake, but the parking aprons are quite short. The electric hookups are located only in the Dogwood loop. The ruins from the Central Coal and Coke Company (4-C) sawmill are visible in the overflow area. The mill operated from 1902 through 1920. There is a concession-operated snack bar, convenience store and boat rental (canoes and paddle boats). The concession operates from mid-March through Labor Day. Finally, there is a cassette-guided auto tour around the recreation area. The cassette is available from the information booth at the entrance to campground and the Davy Crockett District Ranger Office...
