We visited this campground in late November 2006. The campground is very well and attractively laid out. Although there is very litttle vegegation between camp sites there is ample separation and space between camp sites so that there is a sense of privacy. All of the camp sites overlook the Valley of Fires Recreation Area with excellent views of the lava flows of the Malpais and distant mountains.
It's also a great birdwatching campground with great horned owls, burrowing owls, buzzards, hawks, gnat catchers, cactus wrens, sparrows and golden eagles.
