"...The campground, one of four in the Norway Beach Recreation Area, has a single loop on the southern shore of Cass Lake. It offers a well-rounded family oriented camping experience. Check fee board for the schedule of activities offered such as interpretive programs and special events. Varius pine trees, spruce, oak and maple provide ample shade. Several campsites are located on lake shore, which also provides for mooring boats. These campsites fill up fast. The campground's boat ramp provides access to the interesting Star Island. Located in the middle of Cass Lake, Star Island is one of the forest's unique features. Six miles of trails wind around the island and the 199-acre Lake Windigo. Once advertised as a "curative place," Star Island receives accolades from its visitors. A must visit is the Norway Beach Visitor Center. This building, with its magnificent fireplace, is a monument to the talents and craftsmanship of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollees. Programs and displays in the Visitor Center depict Dakota and Ojibwe heritage, CCC contributions, and the area's flora and fauna...
