Review # 1 by Camping With A View
We visited this campground on a day trip in late September 2006. This is a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers campground and is one of seven in the area. This is the largest of the seven campgrounds with over 200 sites. We only visited camping area E on this visit and will probably visit the other campground areas (A-D) in Spring of 2007. The sites with the best separation tend to be the lake shore sites. There seem to be fewer trees between sites and elsewhere in this campground compared to others in the area and although most of the lake shore sites are attractive, they don't have as much a sense of privacy as many of the sites in the other nearby campgrounds (Prairie Ridge and Buck Creek). Lake Rathbun is Iowa's largest lake and is sometimes referred to as Iowa's ocean. See our recommendation of best sites at this campground in this campground's home page (click on "Home" within the campground menu bar above).
