Beautiful View:   Meadow and Mixed Forest

Purgatoire campground is located at the headwaters of Purgatoire river (creek) which runs through the campground at around sites 1 - 4. The North Fork trailhead is located on the north side of campground.

Best Sites: Per the ranger district's office, the camp site loop containing sites 5-10 should be in a small open grass meadow. Although sites 1-4 are located by the creek, they don't have views of the creek.
