"...This campground is a very long way from anything - desolate and remote, but worth the long drive. Located on top of a "flat top" mountain, almost every camping site has a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, canyons and wildflower-covered meadows. The sites are spacious and widely separated. Some sites are located on a ridge overlooking Deep Lake. While not all the camping sites have a grille, every site has a fire ring. Most Sites are open with small stands of Subalpine fir scattered around the campground. There is no gas for 35 miles. The campground has a long history with Ute hunting parties camped on Deep Lake's shores in the early 1800s. President Teddy Roosevelt used the same shore for his Flat Tops hunting party in 1905. A hotel, built here in 1890 but burned down in 1906, was a resting place for travelers between Dotsero and Meeker...

...Deep Lake is 37 acres. A primitive boat ramp is located in day- use area. Electric motors only..."
