Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site:

"...The campground, surrounded on three sides by massive mountains with several waterfalls, is a tent camper/hiker paradise. Low- growing Aspen along with Foxtail pine and White fir, dominate the campground. Three clusters of walk-in tent sites provide excellent privacy. Individual or communal bear-proof food containers are located throughout the campground. Adjacent to John Muir Wilderness, marvelous views are provided in any direction. Group tent camping is limited to a few camp sites. Hikes access several lakes and John Muir Wilderness. Firewood is available for a fee. Consider a day trip to the Manzanar National Historic Site - relocation site for Japanese Americans during World War II - about 5 miles south of Independence off US Rt. 395. It is a self-guided auto tour which will accommodate any size RV. Important history lesson for children and adults alike...

...This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. "Possessing/storing food so bears/wild animals have access will result in a fine of at least $150." ..."
