A description of this campground can be found at the following web site: U.S. National Forest Campground Guide After going to this site, depending on your web browser, you may need to scroll down to the name of this campground. Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site:
"...The campground sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Almost every site has a view of the ocean. Sea Otters can be seen bobbing around in the waves and we heard Sea Lions, but didn't see them. Sunsets (and sunrises) from the sites are outstanding. Campground is semi-manicured with Zoysia-like grass and tall Pampas. The Pampas provides a wall of seclusion between many of the sites. If camping by the ocean is the objective, then Kirk Creek is the place to go. Across from the campground entrance is Nacimiento Rd. A drive up this paved road with a picnic lunch will provide some awesome views of the Pacific Ocean. From the start at State Rt. 1, it rises from 100 ft. above sea level to 2,500 ft. For those with a fear of heights, driving up this road could present a challenge...
...The parking aprons are gravel and grass...
... There are waste stations about 40 miles south (on State Rt. 1) at San Simeon State Park and north about 45 miles (on State Rt. 1) at Pfeiffer State Park...
...Access to Pacific Ocean beach is via a short but precarious trail..."
