A description of this campground can be found at the following web site: U.S. National Forest Campground Guide After going to this site, depending on your web browser, you may need to scroll down to the name of this campground. Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site:

"...The campground, on the northeastern shore of French Meadows Reservoir, has two sections - one for reservations and the other first come, first serve. A pleasant mixture of conifer trees provide ample shade to most camp sites. While both sections have camp sites with views of the reservoir, the first come, first serve section has more plus less challenging access to the water. It is also possible to moore boats at some camp sites. It is a long drive to this attractive campground but worth the effort. Consider a day trip to Big Trees Interpretive Trail. Firewood is available for a fee. Bear-proof food containers are located at some camp sites...

...This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques...

...The parking aprons are paved...

...French Meadows Reservoir is 1,430 acres. The boat ramp is 0.5 miles west of campground..."
