"...The campground stretches 0.8 miles along Convict Creek at the north end of Convict Lake. There are towering moraines on three sides of the campground and the shear barren faces of Mt. Morrison and Laurel Mountain on the fourth. Sagebrush fill the open spaces while Aspen and cottonwood line the creek. Some camp sites enjoy privacy provided by River willow and hedges of wild roses. Although only a few camp sites have a view of the lake, views from every site are vistas of the John Muir Wilderness and mountains. Bear-proof food containers are scattered throughout campground. Firewood is available for a fee. Convict Lake Resort is within walking distance of the campground. There, one can find a wide range of amenities and activities including camping supplies, trail rides, a variety of boat rentals, and a wonderful 4-star restaurant (casual dress is acceptable)...

...This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. "Possessing/storing food so bears/wild animals have access will result in a fine of at least $150."...
