"...This scenic campground is a loop with a small spur next to Big Pine Creek. The spur, camp sites 16 through 18, is not recommended for RVs. The campground is at the top of Big Pine Canyon with views of Kid Mountain and other surrounding peaks in the John Muir Wilderness. Wildflowers and flowering Locust add lots of color. Jeffrey pine and many deciduous trees provide lots of shade. Palisades Glacier (southern most glacier in the US) can be seen from campground. At the edge of John Muir Wilderness, campground is a good base camp for exploring the area and Lon Chaney's cabin. Firewood is available for a fee. The nearby Glacier Lodge offers limited supplies and small cafe menu for a cook's night out...

...This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. "Possessing/storing food so bears/wild animals have access will result in a fine of at least $150."...

...The parking aprons are paved and most are same size. The interior road is narrow..."
