"The campground has many large ponderosa pines trees and stands of spruce and aspen. Expect cool to cold nighttime temperatures. Most sites are walk-in and offer no parking at the site. Cutthroat is not designed to accommodate trailers or motor homes.

Nearby activities include picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, bird watching and wildlife viewing. Be prepared for rain, often heavy, through July and August..."

"...Campground is one of four in the Big LakeAfter going to this site, depending on your web browser, you may need to scroll down to the name of this campground. Campgrounds are in alphabetical order. Below is an excerpt of comments about this campground found at this site: Recreation Area. It is located above Big Lake on the east shore in a mixed forest of Aspen and pine trees with a grassy understory. The sites are well separated with some overlooking the lake while others overlook a large meadow. There are interpretive programs and guided nature walks, usually provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Wildlife viewing of elk, deer, antelope and turkey is an attraction of the campground and area. There is a store on the lake with limited groceries, regular unleaded gas, bait and boat rentals (power - 4 and 6hp and row boats). Firewood is available...

...The hot showers are located in a bathhouse 0.3 miles north of the Rainbow campground. The showers are wheelchair friendly. There are no wheelchair friendly toilets in the campground; they are located in the hot shower bathhouse...

...There are two lakes - Big Lake (640 acres) and Crescent Lake (150 acres). Both permit power boats up to 8hp..."
